성경 출애굽기 읽기

나는 지금 영어 성경 출애굽기 23장을 읽고 있다. 출애굽기가 40장으로 되어 있느니 나는 출애굽기의 절반을 넘게 읽은 셈이다. 출애굽기는 이집트인들이 이스라엘 사람들을 억압하는 것으로 시작된다. 이집트 왕은 새로 태어난 모든 히브리인 아들을 나일 강에 던져 죽이라고 명령했다.
그때 모세는 레위족의 아들로 태어났다. 모세의 어머니는 모세를 몰래 기를 수 없어서 상자에 넣어서 강가 갈대숲에 놓아두었다. 그런데 왕의 딸이 목욕하기 위하여 강으로 내려왔다. 그 여자는 모세를 발견하여 데려다가 길렀다. 이 모세가 자라나서 괴롭힘을 당하던 이스라엘 사람들을 노예상태에서 벗어나게 하였다.
때가 되었을 때, 주님은 호렙 산의 덤불 한가운데서 모세에게 나타났다. 그리고 말했다. “모세야! 나는 이집트인들이 어떻게 나의 민족을 억압하는지 보았다. 이제 너를 이집트의 왕에게 보내서, 네가 이집트에서 그들을 이끌어 내도록 하겠다.” 그 후로 모세를 통해서 하나님께서 행하신 많은 기적에 힘입어 이스라엘 백성은 광야로 나아가서 여호와께 예배하였다.
하나님은 그들을 홍해바다로 향하여 황무지를 통과하여 돌아가는 길로 이끄셨다. 주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. “너는 이스라엘 백성에게 믹돌과 홍해 사이에 있는 비아히롯 앞에 진을 치라고 하여라.” 이스라엘 사람들이 들은 시키는 대로 하였다.
이스라엘 사람들이 도망쳤다는 말을 듣고, 이집트 왕과 신하들은 마음이 변하여, 그들은 쫓아왔다. 이집트 군대는 홍해 앞에서 이스라엘 백성을 따라잡았다. 모세가 하나님께서 말씀하신대로 팔을 홍해 바다로 뻗치자 바다가 갈라졌다. 이스라엘 백성들은 바다의 마른 땅으로 걸어서 홍해를 건넜다.
이집트인들이 쫓아와서 그들을 따라서 이집트인의 말들과 병거와 기병들이 모두 바다로 들어갔다. 모세가 바다 위로 팔을 뻗쳤고, 날이 새자 바닷물이 원래 높이로 되돌아왔다. 주님은 이집트 군대를 바다 속으로 던지셨다.
이와 같이 이스라엘 사람들은 무사히 이집트 사람들의 노예상태에서 벗어났고, 이집트 군대는 홍해 바다에 수장되었다. 이스라엘 백성들은 주님께서 이집트 사람들을 무찌른 큰 힘을 보고, 주님과 그의 종 모세를 믿는 신앙을 가졌다.
Reading the Bible Exodus

I am reading chapter 23 in the English Bible Exodus now. I have read more than half of the Exodus, since there are 40 chapter in the Exodus. The Exodus is begun with that the Egyptians oppresses the Israelites. The king of Egypt commanded that every newly born Hebrew son be thrown into the Nile and killed.
That time Moses was born a son of the tribe of Levi. Because Moses' mother could not secretly raise Moses, put him in a box, and set him in a forest of reeds by the river. By the way, the king' daughter came down to the river to bathe. When she found Moses, brought him up and raised him. This Moses grew and he led to get the Israelites out of miserable slavery.
When the time came, Lord appeared to Mosses from the middle of a bush of Horeb. And Lord said "Mosses! I see how the Egyptians are oppressing my people. Now I am sending you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead them out of his country." Since then, thanks to the many miracles God had done through Moses, the people of Israel went out to the wilderness and worshiped the Lord.
God led them in a roundabout way through the desert toward the Red sea. Lord said Moses, "Tell the Israelites camp in front of Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and Red Sea." The Israelites did as they were told.
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped, he and his officials changed there mind and the Egypt army pursued them. The Egypt army caught up Israelite in front of Red sea. Moses held out his hand over the sea as Lord was told and the sea divided. Israelites went through the sea on dry ground.
The Egyptians pursued them and went after them into the sea with all their horses, chariots, and drivers. Moses held out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the water returned to its normal level. The Lord threw Egypt army into the sea.
Thus the Israelites were freed from the slavery of the Egyptians safely, and the Egyptian army was buried in the Red Sea. When the Israelites saw the great power with which the Lord had defeated the Egyptians, they had faith in the Lord and in his servant Moses.
